Red Thread Confections is proud to support the following organizations which help children in Guatemala, Ethiopia, Haiti and China. As our business grows, we hope to be able to expand our donations to include other countries and organizations.
(Haiti) SOS Children's Villages International
Now, more than ever, the children of Haiti need your help. SOS Children's Villages is committed to helping those who have been displaced, and are in need of water, food and comfort in the aftermath of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that has devastated Haiti. Since 1979, SOS Children's Villages has provided nurturing families, education, and medical care to orphaned and abandoned children in Haiti. Now that disaster has struck, we will multiply our efforts to provide relief to thousands of children and families in need.
(Ethiopia) Wide Horizons for Children
In honor of my niece recently home from Ethiopia, Red Thread Confections is pleased to add this amazing agency to its' list of charitable organizations. In addition to adoption, humanitarian aid is a large part of the mission of Wide Horizons. They have completed projects and are actively working in more than 10 countries world wide. The need in Ethiopia is staggering (nearly 15% of children are orphans and 4 out 5 families live on less than $2 per day).
(Guatemala) Maine Adoption Placement Service
This wonderful agency helped my son find his forever family. Humanitarian aid has always been a focal point of the MAPS mission. Since 1977, they have placed children from all over the world. But they also care deeply about the children who stay behind, living in poverty or in orphanages. To make life better for as many as they can, they dedicate a substantial portion of program fees to aid in their efforts in the U.S. and overseas.
(China) Half The Sky Foundation
Their goal is to ensure that every one of China's orphans has a caring adult in her life. They provide individual nurture and stimulation for babies, innovative preschools that encourage an early love of learning, personalized learning opportunities for older children, and loving — and most important, permanent — foster homes for children whose special needs will keep them from being adopted.
